It is meant for Research works. Lythe type 170 cms long. A heavy cast iron bed with a strong central rib, thoroughly seasoned and aged before machining and grinding of its upper surfaces. Total length 180 cms; with a machined full length platform for the scale. The scale is from lifetime stainless steel fitted on its machined platform on the bed. Divided in mms to a length of 170cms. Accuracy of calibration + 0.01%. Riders are provided to carry the standard experimental accessories. Under-surfaces of riders are machined true to fit the machined bed surface, and these machined surfaces are then jointly underground to give perfectly smooth sliding surfaces. Stainless venires fitted to the riders read the scale to .01 cm. The Bi-prism rider is also provided with fine cross motion read by Vernier to .01 cm.

(i) Optical Slit :With finely ground stainless jaws. Manipulation of jaw movement free from any spring control ensuring maintenance of original accuracy even after prolonged use. The following adjustments are provided for the slit and its carriage.

(a) Linear adjustment along the bed, read by Vernier to .01 cm.

(b) Fine vertical adjustment by slow motion screw.

(ii) Bi-Prism Holder : Provided with the linear adjustment and fine cross motion by micrometer screw (Vernier - .01 cm).Coarse and fine radial motion along the horizontal axis.

(iii) Micrometer Eye Piece : Provided with coarse and fine linear adjustment (Vernier = .01 cm).

Micrometer cross motion of the Eyepiece along a 30 - 0 - 30 mm scale read on a micrometer head to 0.001 cm. Micrometer head fitted with antiback-lash device
